University of Hertfordshire - Business and Social Hub

• The challenge:

  REL Building Services delivered a £1.9m M&E package for a new £12m facility at the University of Hertfordshire.

  The project comprises a new three-storey business and social hub at the University’s de Havilland campus, including a ground floor social space, new learning environment for students and an area dedicated to business incubation, providing local entrepreneurs with access to all of the University's facilities.

  Hertfordshire LEP has invested £2.5m from the Local Growth Fund towards the construction of the building as part of its strategic priority to support business growth and innovation within the county.

• Project summary:

  • Development of original M&E design to optimise performance, energy efficiency and costs.
  • REL’s experience of the commercial and education sectors ensured the use of the most effective technologies.
  • The installation was completed on time within eight months with the new building on track to welcome its first students in Autumn 2020.
